I have done it! The apartment is SPOTLESS! It’s such a great feeling. I’ve been wanting to get it done forever. Tomorrow we’re steam cleaning the carpet and shopping for our last few decorations AND Christmas gifts!!!

This evening has been so relaxing. I turned on some jazzy Christmas music, lit some candles, and got a shower before Stephen came home. When I got out it was flurrying little snowflakes. So pretty! After, I made some amazingly delicious turkey chili. It was soooo good. I’m definitely keeping that recipe!

Stephen and Ashley are doing their podcast right now. I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to be doing the few weeks while I’m up here. One thing I know I’m going to do is get my stuff together for my residencies. I know of three I am definitely applying for. I have a good friend doing one of them right now, and she’s going to see if I can go shadow here on the 13th! I hope it works out, because that residency is my first choice!

I don’t have much else to say, so I’m off to go figure out my schedule for the next few weeks….and finish my laundry…..sigh. >_<

Cleaning Day

So I have successfully organized and cleaned out our entire apartment - except for the bookshelves…which I’m doing today. It’s so nice. Everything is easy to find and so accessible. So today is the dreaded… cleaning day! *insert dramatic music here*. The day that I actually dust, run the sweeper, clean up the layers of soap scum and hair in our bathroom, and do the pile of laundry in the corner of our newly organized closet. Hope you enjoyed the pictures below of it. It was a big undertaking to say the least. 0_o Hopefully I can get everything cleaned today so that tomorrow all Stephen and I have to do is steam clean the carpet. This weekend we’re hoping to finished decorating and hang all our stuff on the walls. Then we can finally put up the Christmas Tree!

I can’t believe a whole week of my break is already gone. I’m thankful I can get all these things done that have been weighing on my mind. I’m really excited for the weekend too. Well off to go get started on cleaning. I had a late start this morning and I have to get cleaned up myself and chili on the stove before Stephen gets home! Off I go!

So I didn’t post pictures like I said I would, but trust me, it wouldn’t have been that interested. I spent all day in the kitchen and laundry room and it doesn’t look like I did anything at all……UNTIL you open the cabinets!!! I wiped everything out and organized it all. It looks GREAT! I can’t believe how much dust I got out of the laundry room either. It’s supposed to be a place where we clean our clothes and I could have made a cat out of all the dust I got out of there. Luckily, I did get it out! I also managed to clean out the coat closet. Now that I wish I had a picture of. It was horrible. So yay! Success for me. Today I’m cleaning out our bedroom closet and bathroom linen closet. That I will have to take a picture of.

While cleaning I started listening to dance/techno music….it’s embarrassing I know, but it made me hyper. I got bored of it and put on my ipod, and lo and behold, an old session from church that I had downloaded came on. I skipped right past it, but after skipping about 40 other songs and not finding anything I wanted to listen to, I said “Hey, what the heck!” and turned it back on. What a blessing! I’m downloading the last few lectures and listening to it today as I clean out the closet. Not only do I get a lot out of the message, but I don’t feel like I’m alone because they’re someone else talking! Hehe.

Well off to charge up with some cereal and fruit then to work!

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. Rotations kept me pretty busy so I didn’t have much time for blogging. Now…I’M ON BREAK! Woohoo. I’m finally back with Stephen and I have a lot of free time - which scares me a little. I thought it was going to be great, but Monday and Tuesday I did a bunch of nothing and was super bored. I promised today would be different though. I’m going to try to organize our apartment so I can finish decorating it and get ready for Christmas! Yay!

I spent Monday making a “To Do” list for things I want to accomplish over break and I think it just made me more overwhelmed instead of more organized. I’m trying to take it easy though. It is break after all!

So, off to clean out the kitchen and get this show on the road. I’ll post pictures so you can see my successes/failures. >_< Hopefully more successes.

Hello everyone! I just finished up a rotation at the West Virginia Poison Center (which was CRAZY) and started my new rotation on Monday at Cabin Creek Health Center with my classmate Leah. Our first day was kind of a bummer. We sat down at computers and look through medical records from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm. Our preceptor wanted us to get a good feel for how everything was set up…….we accomplished that by 12:00, and were SO bored the rest of the day.

Today we didn’t have anything to do until 1:00 pm. From 1:00 to 4:00pm we were taught - along with nursing students and a med student - about motivational interviewing. No, it doesn’t not involve pom poms or kazoos. It was actually kind of interesting. It was the first part in a two part lecture on how to enourage patients to change risky health behaviors. If you’ve seen the movie Inception. It’s kind of the same idea. We try to make them think it’s their idea that they want to change. Pretty cool stuff.

But anyway, I do think this rotation will get better. Hopefully, by the end of this week, we will be working with the physicians and doing med histories on patients before the physician sees them. I’m really excited!

In other news, today totally kicked butt because I finally had some one-on-one time with my lovely parents - this morning with my mother and this evening with my father. Since I didn’t have to be anywhere until 1:00, my mom stayed home and went to Hospice to work later today. She made me a wonderful juiced drink for breakfast and we had a good hour of just chatting. She had a meeting for Hospice later this evening, so it was just me and Daddy home for dinner. We decided to go out and eat and had a great time together also. Yay for family time. You don’t realize how much you miss and love them until you can’t see them when you want to. I’m home for the next 10 weeks, so hopefully I’ll have lots more time with them and my wonderful sister…..who is currently in Florida right now……jerk. I LOVE YOU TAKI! ^_^

Well, off to bed with me I suppose. Got an early morning tomorrow!

Hello everyone! Long time, no post. A lots has happened since I last posted. I spent some time in the diabetes clinic, and also the pediatric clinic. I love them both. Renee is a wonderful preceptor and a very cool person in general. I got to do A LOT of patient counseling and learned lots about topical steroids, asthma, and some great tips on how to get children to take their medicine.

Diabetes clinic was much more fast paced than peds. We saw 12 patients in a matter of about 4 hours. It was crazy. Next time I’m in the clinic I’m going to be the one doing the medication histories and counseling. Scary…I know. J I’m looking forward to it though.

Today was AWESOME. Michele and I went to the Arctic Thunder Air Show. I thought it would be a fun diversion, but I was blown away at how amazing it was. There were probably at least 500 people there. The day was filled with demonstrations from 10:00 to 4:30. We were able to watch the Blue Angels, the Snowbirds (Canada’s version of the Blue Angels), Harrier Jets, B-52 bombers, F-22s, C-17s, and trick planes. I cannot explain in words how incredible it was. So please refer to the videos and pictures below. ^_^
